This novel could save lives!

In The Pause, John Larkin tackles the devastating issue of teen suicide. The characters of Declan and Lisa are genuine and believable, as is their relationship, but where the book shines is in the first person narrative of Declan’s realisation that he needs help, that depression is not something shameful that should be hidden away until it causes young people to take their own lives. Although parts of the novel are confronting, Larkin’s gentle humour and wit carries the story in lighter moments. In these days of increasing teen suicide, this is a story of hope, a book which every teen should read.

Everyone needs to read this book!

Once again I am rendered speechless by a John Larkin book. This deserves so much more than 5 stars. It had me laughing so much my stomach hurt and I couldn't drink anything while reading for fear i would snort it out my nose. All I can say is, you NEED to read this book. Everyone needs to read this book if just to appreciate life.
